🍁 10-Day South Korea Autumn Itinerary: Seoul, Nami Island, Naejangsan & Busan
Planning a 10-day trip to South Korea in autumn?
If this is your first time in Korea, you might be tempted to put everything into one trip — Seoul, Busan, Jeju, Nami Island, mountains, palaces, cafés, shopping and every place you’ve saved on Instagram.
I understand the temptation.
After living in South Korea, though, I’ve learned that trying to see everything usually means spending too much time on trains, buses and subways and not enough time actually enjoying where you are.
For an autumn trip, I would rather slow things down a little.
That’s why this 10-day Korea itinerary focuses on Seoul and Busan, with two very different autumn day trips: Nami Island for the classic Korean fall scenery and Naejangsan National Park for a much bigger mountain-and-forest experience.
You’ll spend 7 nights in Seoul and 2 nights in Busan, which also means you only need to change hotels once.
The route includes palaces and hanbok, traditional markets, cafés, shopping neighborhoods, autumn foliage, a theme park, coastal villages and beaches. There are a couple of long days, especially Nami Island and Naejangsan, but I’ve intentionally placed slower days between them.
That balance matters.
You don’t want to spend your entire vacation waking up early, rushing to the next attraction and coming back to your hotel exhausted. 🍂 Why I Recommend Seoul + Busan for 10 Days
One thing I really like about this route is that it doesn’t try to make you “complete” South Korea. Seoul gives you the historic and modern sides of Korea in one place. You can spend the morning walking around a palace in hanbok and the afternoon drinking coffee in a trendy neighborhood. Then Busan changes the mood completely.
You go from Seoul’s busy streets to beaches, coastal villages, cliffs and ocean views. The two day trips also give the itinerary a nice seasonal focus.
Nami Island is an easier and more classic autumn day trip. It’s the kind of place many first-time visitors picture when they imagine autumn in Korea — tree-lined paths, colorful leaves and plenty of photo opportunities.
Naejangsan, on the other hand, is the day I would choose if your main reason for visiting Korea in autumn is the foliage itself.
They are different enough that I wouldn’t choose one over the other if you have 10 days.
🍁 When Should You Visit Korea for Autumn?
This is probably the most important thing to understand before booking your flights. Autumn foliage does not appear everywhere in Korea at the same time.
Mountain areas can start changing color earlier, while Seoul generally reaches its best autumn colors later. Southern areas can have another timing altogether. So if you’re planning this trip around the leaves, don’t simply search for “best time for autumn in Korea” and choose one exact week. Weather changes from year to year.

For this particular itinerary, late October through early or mid-November is a useful starting point to consider. However, I would still check the latest foliage forecast before your trip.
If you’re prioritizing:
Seoul + Nami Island:
Late October to early November can be a good period to consider.
Naejangsan:
You’ll want to look toward the later part of the autumn season.
All three:
You’re looking for the overlap rather than trying to hit the exact peak date of one destination. That flexibility is important.
🧥 What to Wear in Korea During Autumn
Don’t pack for “autumn” as if September, October and November have the same weather.
September can still feel surprisingly warm, while November mornings and evenings can be quite chilly.
For this itinerary, I would pack layers.
You’ll be walking through palace grounds, markets, parks, shopping streets, villages and coastal areas. And if you do Naejangsan, comfortable shoes become especially important.

🏨 Where Should You Stay?
Seoul: Myeongdong
For this particular itinerary, Myeongdong is my practical choice.
It’s not the only good area in Seoul, but it works well because you’re returning to the same hotel after two long day trips.
You also have restaurants, convenience stores, shopping and transportation nearby. That becomes especially nice on Day 6.
After spending most of the day traveling to and exploring Naejangsan, the last thing you want is another long journey across Seoul just to get back to your hotel.

Busan: Haeundae
For this itinerary, I’d stay around Haeundae. Your first Busan day is already centered around Haeundae Beach, the Sky Capsule, Cheongsapo and Haeundae Market. Staying nearby keeps that day simple.

✈️ Before You Leave Home
I always think the easiest Korea trips are the ones where the boring preparation is done before the flight.
Download your navigation apps, arrange your internet connection, prepare your travel documents and decide how you’ll handle transportation. 🚇 T-money or Climate Card?
Because this itinerary uses public transportation in both Seoul and Busan, I recommend having a transportation card ready.
For most travelers following this route, T-money is the simpler option, particularly because you’re traveling outside Seoul too.

🗓️ DAY 1 — Arrive in Seoul + Seoul City Tour Bus + N Seoul Tower + Changdeokgung + Myeongdong
✈️ Arrive in Seoul in the Morning
For this itinerary, I recommend a morning arrival.
Once you land at Incheon International Airport, clear immigration, collect your luggage and head toward your hotel.Your room may not be ready yet. That’s completely normal. Just leave your luggage at the hotel and start your first day.

💸 Getting Your First Korean Won
You don’t need to exchange your entire travel budget at the airport.

🚌 Seoul City Tour Bus
After dropping your luggage, start with the Seoul City Tour Bus.
I like this idea for Day 1 because you’re probably still adjusting to the time difference. Instead of immediately figuring out several subway transfers, you can sit down, look around and get your first overview of central Seoul. Use the hop-on hop-off option and get off at N Seoul Tower.
🗼 N Seoul Tower
This is a nice first major stop because you can get your first proper view of Seoul without spending hours walking around after a long flight.
Recommended time: 1–1.5 hours
Take in the city views, take a few photos and enjoy the scenery before continuing with the rest of your Seoul sightseeing.
💡 Tip: The view is weather-dependent. If the sky is cloudy or visibility is poor, don’t feel bad about skipping the tower and spending more time around Changdeokgung or Myeongdong instead.
🏯 Changdeokgung Palace
After N Seoul Tower, continue to Changdeokgung Palace.
During autumn, this is exactly the kind of place where I would slow down. The palace grounds are beautiful when the trees start changing color, so don’t rush through simply because you have another stop later.
Recommended time: 1.5–2 hours
Take your time exploring the palace grounds and enjoying the autumn scenery.
🌃 Evening — Myeongdong
After Changdeokgung, return to your hotel area and spend the evening around Myeongdong Shopping Street.
You’re close to your hotel, so if jet lag hits, you can easily head back and rest. Otherwise, grab dinner, check out Olive Young, try some Korean street food and enjoy your first evening in Seoul.
🏨 Where to Stay in Myeongdong
For this itinerary, I recommend staying near Myeongdong Station or the main shopping streets.
Recommended hotels:
🏯 DAY 2 — Hanbok + Gyeongbokgung + Hyoja-ro + Tongin Market + Cheonggyecheon
Today is your classic Seoul history day. And this is the day I’d wear a hanbok.
👘 Rent a Hanbok
Rent one around Gyeongbokgung rather than carrying it around Seoul all day. You don’t need to wear it for 10 hours. A few hours is plenty for the palace and surrounding streets. If you want to book activities before your trip, browse Seoul activities on Klook.
🏯 Gyeongbokgung Palace
Start relatively early. Gyeongbokgung is one of Seoul’s most popular attractions, and autumn makes the grounds especially pretty.
Give yourself around two to three hours, depending on how much you want to photograph and explore. If you’re wearing hanbok, take advantage of it. This is the day to enjoy the photos rather than rushing from one attraction to the next.
🍂 Hyoja-ro atumn foliage street
After the palace, walk toward Hyoja-ro. I like including places such as this because they don’t feel like another major attraction you have to check off. You’re simply walking through Seoul with autumn trees around you.
🍜 Tongin Market
Continue to Tongin Market for lunch.
It’s a good place to try different Korean market foods without committing to a long restaurant meal.
🌊 Cheonggyecheon
Later in the afternoon, head toward Cheonggyecheon Stream. Enjoy the area into the evening if you’re still energetic. Otherwise, head back to Myeongdong for an easy dinner.
🍁 DAY 3 — Alpaca World + Gangchon Rail Bike + Nami Island + Hongdae
Today is your first big autumn day trip, and yes, it’s a full day.
Today’s route:
Seoul → Alpaca World → Lunch → Gangchon Rail Bike → Nami Island → Seoul → Hongdae
For this combination, I recommend an organized day tour. The attractions are spread out, and having transportation arranged makes the day much easier.

🦙 Alpaca World
Your first stop is Alpaca World.
I’d allow around two hours here. It’s a fun stop if you enjoy animals, and the outdoor setting also gives you a nice change from Seoul.
🍜 Lunch
After Alpaca World, stop for lunch before continuing to the next activity.
Since this is already a packed day, keep lunch simple rather than spending too much time looking for a specific restaurant.
🚲 Gangchon Rail Bike
Next, head to Gangchon Rail Bike.
You’ll spend around two hours here, including the experience and time around the area. It’s a nice break from walking and gives you a chance to enjoy the countryside scenery.
🍁 Nami Island
Then finish your day trip at Nami Island, where I’d allow around three hours.
This is the part of the day I’d slow down for, especially during autumn. Walk through the tree-lined paths, take photos and enjoy the changing leaves instead of trying to see every corner.
🌃 Evening — Hongdae
After returning to Seoul, drop off and explore Hongdae if you still have energy.
Have dinner, walk around the shopping streets, check out the cafés and enjoy the lively evening atmosphere.
If you’re exhausted after the day trip, skip Hongdae and go straight back to your hotel. You already had a full day.
🌳 DAY 4 — Seoul Forest + Seongsu + Yeouido
After yesterday’s long day, today’s itinerary is intentionally slower.
🌳 Seoul Forest
Start your morning at Seoul Forest.
This is one of those places where I wouldn’t create a minute-by-minute schedule.
Walk around.
Take photos.
Sit down.
Get coffee.
Enjoy the autumn trees.

☕ Seoul Forest Café Street
After the park, explore the surrounding café area.
You don’t need to hunt down the most viral café.
If somewhere looks comfortable, sit down.
Travel doesn’t have to be a constant search for the “best” everything.
🛍️ Afternoon — Seongsu
Continue to Seongsu.
This is your modern Seoul afternoon.
Expect:
pop-up stores
Korean fashion
beauty brands
concept stores
cafés
lifestyle shops
One thing I recommend is not planning your entire afternoon around one specific pop-up.
Seongsu changes quickly.
Check what’s actually operating shortly before your visit and keep some flexibility.
🌅 Evening — Yeouido Hangang Park
Finish at Yeouido Hangang Park.
Pick up snacks from a convenience store and sit by the Han River. After several busy sightseeing days, a quiet evening here can feel surprisingly nice.
🚢 Optional: Han River Dinner Cruise
Want a more special evening? You can add a Han River dinner cruise from Yeouido and enjoy dinner with Seoul’s night views from the river.
🎓 DAY 5 — Ewha + Yonsei + Café Pokpo + Insadong
Today combines university neighborhoods, cafés and traditional shopping.
🎓 Ewha Womans University
Start around Ewha.
Explore the university area and nearby shopping streets.
You’ll find plenty of fashion stores, cafés, beauty shops and affordable shopping.
🎓 Yonsei University
Continue toward Yonsei University and the Sinchon area.
You don’t need to spend hours inside the campus.
The surrounding neighborhood is also part of the experience.
☕ Café Pokpo
Next, visit Café Pokpo.
This is your slower coffee stop before heading into the final part of the day.
Check the latest operating information before going because café hours can change.
🎁 Evening — Insadong
Finish in Insadong.
This is where I’d do most of my traditional souvenir shopping.
Look for:

Korean tea
stationery
gifts
souvenirs
snacks
Then have dinner nearby.
🍂 A Little More Autumn
Autumn in Korea isn’t only about leaves.

🍂 DAY 6 — Naejangsan National Park Autumn Day Trip
If you told me the main reason you’re visiting Korea in autumn is foliage, this is the day I’d be most excited about.
🍁 Naejangsan National Park
Naejangsan is much farther from Seoul than Nami Island. That’s why I recommend treating it as a dedicated full-day trip. Don’t try to squeeze another major attraction into this day. The journey is long, but the mountain scenery is the reason you’re making the trip.
My recommendation: an organized day tour
You can DIY Naejangsan, but with only 10 days in Korea, I don’t think you need to make the transportation more complicated than necessary.
An organized tour can make the long-distance logistics easier, particularly if you’re unfamiliar with Korea’s regional transportation.

If you have 10 days, I’d do both.
Nami Island gives you that recognizable Korean autumn experience.
Naejangsan gives you something much wilder and more dramatic.

You’ll probably be exhausted when you return.
Don’t schedule anything else.
Have dinner near your hotel and rest.
🏯 DAY 7 — Eunpyeong Hanok Village + 1인1잔 + Lotte World
Today starts quietly and ends at one of Seoul’s biggest attractions.
🏯 Eunpyeong Hanok Village
Start your morning at Eunpyeong Hanok Village. The mountain backdrop makes it especially beautiful during autumn.

Then head to 1인1잔, which has a beautiful view overlooking the hanok village.
Take your time here — you can stop for coffee and dessert or have lunch at the restaurant while enjoying the view.
Afterward, head to Lotte World for the afternoon and evening.
🎡 Afternoon & Evening — Lotte World
After lunch, head to Lotte World.
For this itinerary, I’d enter in the afternoon and stay until closing.
That gives you time for:

🚄 DAY 8 — Seoul to Busan + Haeundae + Sky Capsule
Today you finally leave Seoul. The good thing is you’re only moving hotels once.
🚄 Take an Early KTX
Take an early KTX from Seoul Station to Busan Station. I recommend going early because it gives you most of the day in Busan. After arriving, head toward Haeundae and leave your luggage at your hotel. After arriving at Busan Station, head to Haeundae and leave your luggage at your hotel. For this itinerary, I recommend staying near Haeundae Beach or Haeundae Station so you’re close to the beach, market and Sky Capsule.

Start at Haeundae Beach.
After a week of palaces, shopping streets and cafés, seeing the ocean feels like entering another part of Korea.
Walk along the beach and enjoy the coastal atmosphere.
🚡 Haeundae Sky Capsule
Next, take the Haeundae Sky Capsule toward Cheongsapo.
This is one activity I’d try to reserve ahead of time, particularly during busy travel periods.
🌊 Cheongsapo
Spend some time around Cheongsapo before heading back toward Haeundae.
Don’t rush this part.
The coastal scenery is the point.
🍢 Haeundae Traditional Market
Finish the day at Haeundae Traditional Market.
Try Korean street food and have dinner around the market.
Overnight: Busan : Haeundae
🌊 DAY 9 — Huinnyeoul + Taejongdae + BIFF Square
Today is your main Busan sightseeing day.
🚌 Busan City Tour Bus
The Busan City Tour Bus can be useful for this route because you’re connecting several coastal attractions.
It can save you from having to figure out every individual transfer.
🌊 Huinnyeoul Culture Village
Start at Huinnyeoul.
The coastal views, small cafés and hillside streets make it a very different experience from central Seoul.
Take your time.
🌊 Taejongdae
Continue to Taejongdae.
The cliffs and ocean scenery give you another side of Busan.
🍢 BIFF Square
Finish around:
BIFF Square → Jagalchi → Gukje Market → Bupyeong Kkangtong Market
This is your street-food and shopping evening. Don’t worry about finding a fancy dinner.
Wandering around a Korean market, seeing what everyone else is eating and deciding what to try next is part of the fun.
🎨 DAY 10 — Gamcheon + Songdo Beach + Gimhae Airport
For your final day, I recommend a late-evening departure from Gimhae International Airport, if available. This lets you enjoy most of the day instead of going to the airport early.
🧳 Check Out & Handle Your Luggage
After checking out of your Haeundae hotel, don’t carry your luggage around all day.
Since you’ll be heading toward Gamcheon and Songdo, you can either store your luggage at Busan Station or arrange luggage delivery directly to Gimhae Airport. 👉 Check Busan Hotel → Gimhae Airport Luggage Delivery on Klook
This can be especially convenient if you want to spend your last day sightseeing without your bags.

Start your day at Gamcheon Culture Village.
Go earlier if possible, as the colorful hillside streets can get busy later in the day.
🌊 Songdo Beach
After Gamcheon, continue to Songdo.
Have lunch, then visit:

Songdo Sky Park
🚡 Busan Air Cruise Cable Car
Take the Busan Air Cruise Cable Car for your final coastal views.

✈️ Head to Gimhae Airport
After finishing your sightseeing in Songdo, head to Gimhae International Airport.
If you stored your luggage at Busan Station, collect it before heading to the airport. If you used luggage delivery, simply follow your booking instructions.
I recommend an international flight around 9:30 PM or later to allow enough time for the airport transfer, check-in, security and immigration. Leave some extra buffer in case of traffic or transportation delays.

💡 Practical Tips for This 10-Day Trip
1. Don’t plan around one exact foliage date
Foliage changes every year.
Use forecasts as a guide, not a guarantee.
2. Wear comfortable shoes
You will walk more than you think, particularly on palace days, Nami Island and Busan’s coastal attractions.
3. Book your KTX early
If your Seoul-to-Busan date is fixed, I wouldn’t leave the train until the last minute.
4. Reserve the activities that matter most
I’d prioritize the Nami Island day trip, Naejangsan tour, hanbok rental, Lotte World, Sky Capsule and KTX.
Leave cafés, restaurants and shopping flexible.
5. Don’t try to do everything
This is especially important on your day trips.
If you arrive back in Seoul tired, go to bed.
You don’t get extra points for completing every possible attraction.
6. Keep your final day flexible
Your Day 10 depends on your departure time and transportation conditions.
Don’t schedule something far away immediately before your flight.

Your actual budget will depend heavily on your accommodation, flights, shopping and the number of paid activities you choose.

Yes. For a first trip, 10 days gives you enough time for Seoul, Busan, Nami Island and Naejangsan without changing hotels too often. This itinerary uses 7 nights in Seoul and 2 nights in Busan.
Is autumn a good time to visit South Korea?
Yes, especially if you enjoy walking, outdoor sightseeing and autumn foliage. Palaces, parks and mountain areas are particularly beautiful during this season.
What month is best for autumn foliage in Korea?
There isn’t one exact date for the whole country. For this itinerary, late October to early or mid-November is a useful starting point, but foliage timing changes each year, so check the latest forecast before your trip.
Is Nami Island worth visiting in autumn?
Yes. It’s one of the easiest day trips from Seoul for classic Korean autumn scenery, especially if you combine it with other nearby attractions.
Is Naejangsan worth visiting from Seoul?
If autumn foliage is a major reason for your trip, yes. It’s a much longer day than Nami Island, though, so be prepared for an early start and a long journey.
Can I visit Nami Island and Naejangsan on the same trip?

If you can find a suitable international flight from Gimhae International Airport, I would. It saves you from returning to Seoul just to catch your flight home.

If you’re traveling during peak foliage season, book your KTX, day trips, Sky Capsule and other popular activities ahead of time. Keep cafés, shopping and meals flexible so you don’t feel rushed.
